Manuscript Review

You can finally get the feedback you need on your manuscript and answers to those burning questions…

I have a manuscript done...

Is This For Me?

This special offer is designed for people who have already written a book, or finished a manuscript you hope will one day inspire and impact readers. There it sits, nestled on your hard drive, and you’re not sure what to do with it.

What will bring it to a level good enough to be published?
Do you send it to an editor? How do you find an editor?
Do you send it to a publisher? How would you even start looking for a publisher?

If you’re in thinking, “I’ve pretty much finished my book,” or maybe “I’ve written this draft as well as I can, now what?” This might be the ideal opportunity for you.

Honest, encouraging, high-level feedback

What is a Manuscript Review?

Would it be helpful to have a book coach read what you’ve written and provide professional feedback?

In the industry, this is known as a “manuscript review” or “manuscript evaluation.” It involves a book professional reading the entire manuscript and providing feedback for the author to make necessary revisions. This is not editing or line-by-line feedback, which can be quite a steep financial investment.

A manuscript review is usually done before an editor comes in, but even if you’ve had some editorial work, it would still help you feel confident in taking the next step toward being ready to publish your book.

How it works

The Manuscript Review Process:

Manuscript Submission

Share what you’ve written so far—whether it’s a non-fiction book or memoir. I’ll be the one reading it from cover to cover, making sure to match you with the coach who has the most experience with your type of book.

In-Depth Review

I’ll dive into your manuscript, taking detailed notes and creating a summary review. I’ll highlight what’s working well and pinpoint areas that need revision before we get into the more detailed editing phase.

Focused Feedback

For non-fiction books, we’ll look at the overall structure, clarity of ideas, flow from chapter to chapter, and how compelling your illustrations and stories are. We’ll also assess the consistency of your voice.
For memoirs, we’ll focus on the story structure, alignment between your intentions and readers’ expectations, and key elements like scene-setting, dialogue, and pacing.

Personalized Feedback Letter

I’ll craft a detailed feedback letter that celebrates what’s already strong in your manuscript and outlines the areas that need more work before moving on to editing and publication.

One-on-One Coaching Calls

Before I dive into your manuscript, we’ll start with a one-on-one call so we can discuss your heart and goals for your book. Once I send your feedback letter, we’ll have a coaching call to discuss the areas of potential and improvement, so you know your next steps.

All this personalized, professional feedback for a 30,000-50,000 word manuscript is available for just $297 CAD, or you can choose to pay in two installments of $150 (one to start and one upon completion).

What Authors Are Saying

“This book would have never reached this point without the editorial work of Emily Grabatin. Thank you, Emily, for helping me sharpen my writing and make what I wrote much clearer and readable. Being a coach, you also helped with perspective on how the material would benefit those not yet exposed to coaching.”
